
Oregon State Preps for Weekend in Seattle, Albuquerque

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Another split-squad weekend is upon the Beavs with trips to Albuquerque and Seattle coming up.

LAST TIME OUT
Oregon State set new school records in the mile and the 4x400-meter relay in a strong performance at the UW and Razorback Invites.

Kaylee Mitchell and Grace Fetherstonhaugh both broke a school record in the same event for the second time in two meets, snapping the top mark in the mile at the Razorback Invite. Then, Adael Scatena, Taylor Weidinger, Jada Hurley, and Mari Friedman outpaced the previous record by over a second in the 4x400 meters.

The record-breakers highlighted a day where 10 Beavs posted personal bests and six claimed new spots in the OSU Top 10 for at least one event. Oregon State athletes posted 15 PBs on the weekend.

Anneke Moersdorf was one of those PBs with a 3,983 in the pentathlon for the second-best result in school history.

Taylor Weidinger, fresh off earning a spot in the OSU Top 10 in the 200 meters, raced to the third spot in school history with a 26.60 in the 400. She is one of three athletes and the only active runner in the Oregon State top 10 in the 60, 200 and 400 meters.

NATIONAL RANKINGS
Entering the weekend, Oregon State has posted four qualifying marks for the 2022 NCAA Indoor Championships. The top-16 individuals and top-12 relays advance in each event.

Mitchell is double-qualified individually with the no. 10 time in the mile and no. 6 in the 3,000 meters. Fetherstonhaugh ranks ninth in the 3,000 meters and is just outside the field with the no. 22 time in the mile.

The distance duo make up half of Oregon State's distance medley relay, which is hanging on to a spot in the championships with the no. 12 time in the country. Friedman and Scatena both return to the group as well after placing fourth in the nation last year.

Anneke Moersdorf and Emma Nelson are also within reach of a national championships appearance with top-50 marks heading into this weekend. Moersdorf's pentathlon of 3,983 ranks 30th while Nelson's high jump of 5-9.25 sits in 50th.
