November 09, 2023 | Men's Soccer
CORVALLIS – The Oregon State men's soccer team battled to a 2-2 draw Thursday evening in the regular season finale at Lorenz Field.
Arnau Farnos and Fran Cortijo both found the net for the Beavers.
With the result, Oregon State wraps up the regular season with a record of 7-5-5, and will finish second in the Pac-12 with a mark of 4-1-5 in conference play. This marks the sixth-straight season OSU has finished top-three in the Pac-12.
Oregon State will now look forward to the NCAA Tournament Selection Show, which will take place on Monday.
The Beavers jumped in front less than two minutes into the contest, as Farnos slid one inside the left post from 20 yards out. Washington created some momentum from there, but Oregon State had a chance to add a second in the 19th minute, when Pere Belmonte forced a save with a shot from distance.
Farnos came close to making it a brace in the 31st, as he took a pass from Dante Williams 13 yards from goal and scorched a shot just over the crossbar.
Washington leveled the score with a penalty kick in the 41st, and proceeded to take the lead two minutes later. Cortijo evened things up just before the break, as his free kick bulged the back of the net.
Williams had the best scoring chance of the early phases of the second half, as he forced a sliding save one a 1v1 opportunity with the keeper. Logan Farrington forced a save from a tight angle in the 79th.
The Beavers put the ball in the back of the net in the 84th minute, but Williams was flagged offside to negate the score. The two sides played a frenzied final two minutes, but neither team scored the decisive goal.
The NCAA Tournament Selection Show will stream live on NCAA.com beginning Monday at 10 a.m.
