Clara Alevag Joins Oregon State Women’s Golf Program
November 08, 2023 | Women's Golf
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State women's golf head coach Dawn Shockley announced Wednesday the addition of Clara Alevag who signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Beaver women's golf program beginning with the 2024-25 season.
"We are very excited for Clara to join our program as she exemplifies what it is we are doing here at Oregon State," Shockley said. "Her desire to learn and grow, as well as her determination and competitiveness, will make her an asset for our program."
Alevag, a native of Gothenburg, Sweden, shot a career-best 3-under 69 at the 2021 Slaget om Goteborg that helped her claim medalist honors. She finished in second place at the 2021, 2022 and 2023 Teen Tour Future and had three rounds in red figures in those three events. Alevag finished ninth at the competitive Stenson Sunesson Junior Challenge in 2022.
She chose Oregon State because "as a girl with big dreams I searched a college where I could get the best opportunities to develop my golf, but also on an individual level. The environment Oregon State University offers is incredible in many ways with girls that seems to push each other to be better each and every day."
"Coach Shockley also made a great impression, and I really felt that she and rest of team can develop me and my golf further. I could see myself having four amazing years at OSU and where I get one step closer to my dream. I'm beyond thankful for this opportunity."
Alevag carries a 3.5 cumulative GPA at Kitas Gymnasium. Her hobbies are "going on long walks exploring the nature, hanging out with friends and going on trips with my family."
