Beavers Draw Huskies Behind Coll’s Clean Sheet
October 29, 2023 | Women's Soccer
CORVALLIS – The Oregon State women's soccer team earned a 0-0 draw against Washington Sunday afternoon at Lorenz Field.
Senior Hailey Coll had a standout performance in net, making 10 saves to give her a total of 21 over her last two matches. The goalkeeper now has 197 career saves, as she moved up to seventh on Oregon State's all-time list.
The Beavers recorded a total of 17 shots in the match, putting five on target, and earned eight corner kicks – including six in the second half.
McKenna Martinez took the Beavers' first shot of the match, firing a curling effort just wide of the post in the third minute. Hailey Coll followed that up with a big stop minutes later, as she came off her line to smother a Husky scoring chance.
Oregon State recorded a total of six shots in the opening 45 minutes, but neither side was able to get on the score-sheet in the first half as they headed to the break scoreless.
The Huskies started the second half on the front-foot. Coll made a diving stop in the 63rd minute to preserve the deadlock. Martinez forced a save at the other end just minutes later.
Regan Berg nearly broke the stalemate in the 85th, but her shot from eight yards out was over the crossbar. Valerie Tobias and Martinez both had scoring chances in the 88th, but both attempts were off target.
The Beavers put the ball in the net with 90 seconds to play, but the tally was chalked off due to a foul. OSU pressed forward, earning a pair of corner kicks in the closing minutes, but neither side got on the board as the match ended in a draw.
Oregon State will wrap up its season next Friday when it hosts Oregon in The Rivalry Series presented by Safeway-Albertsons, PacificSource Health Plans, Your Local Toyota Dealers and First Interstate Bank.
