
Beavers Drop Contest to Utes

CORVALLIS – The Oregon State men's basketball team fell to Utah 63-44Thursday evening at Gill Coliseum.
Jordan Pope finished in double-figures for the 14th time this season, finishing with 11 points on 5-for-11 shooting to go with three rebounds. Fellow freshman Tyler Bilodeau ended his evening with seven points, nine rebounds and a block. Rodrigue Andela tallied seven points and seven boards.
Michael Rataj went 3-for-6 from the floor off the bench, scoring eight points.
As a team, Oregon State held Utah to 41.5 percent shooting from the floor and 30.4 percent shooting from 3-point range. The Beavers had 20 points in the paint.
Utah jumped in front early, taking a 10-0 lead to start the game, but the Beavers bounced back to get within 12-7 seven minutes into the contest. The Utes used an 8-0 run to extend the advantage to 14 at the under-8 media break.
The Utes headed to the break in front 32-16.
Utah controlled the matchup throughout the second half, leading by as many as 31 before the Oregon State offense heated up in the closing minutes to bring the final margin to 19.
The Beavers will remain at home Saturday to take on Colorado.
