Fetherstonhaugh, Mitchell Named All-Academic Athletes, Beavers Earn USTFCCCA Team Academic Recognition

NEW ORLEANS, La. - Redshirt sophomores Kaylee Mitchell and Grace Fetherstonhaugh were named All-Academic Athletes and the Oregon State Women's Cross Country team earned All-Academic Team honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Thursday.Â
Mitchell, a nutrition major from Salem, Ore., clocked a time of 20:20.3 to finished 77th overall at the NCAA Championships (Nov. 20). She was the first Beaver to cross the finish line at the NCAA West Regional (Nov. 12), placing 12th with a 6K personal-best of 20:15.8 to earn All-Region honors. At the Pac-12 Championships, Mitchell clinched sixth with a time of 20:51.7 to garner First-Team All-Conference accolades and leading the team of a sixth place finish.Â
Fetherstonhaugh, a sociology major from New Westminster, B.C., placed 14th at the NCAA West Regional (Nov. 12) with a 6K personal-best time of 20:07.5 and earned All-Region accolades. At the Pac-12 Championships (Oct. 29), she clocked a time of 21:07.5 to place 14th, earning Second-Team All-Conference honors. Earlier in the season, Fetherstonhaugh notched a second-place finish at the Viking Rust Buster (Sept. 3) with a 4K personal-best of 13:11.2, leading the Beavers to a first-place team finish.Â
The Beavers posted a team GPA of 3.64 in the fall. The Orange and Black posted 156 points at the Pac-12 Championships to finish sixth in the team standings. At the NCAA West Regionals (Nov. 12), the Beavers placed seventh with 206 points. During the regular season, OSU finished fifth in the team standings at the Dellinger Invite (Sept. 23), and fourth at the Charles Bowles Invite (Oct. 2).
In order to qualify for All-Academic Athlete honors, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 (or 10 percent) at the NCAA Regional Championships or as an All-American at the NCAA Championships.Â
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period.
