Studer Named Second Team All-Pac-12
April 21, 2021 | Women's Soccer
SAN FRANCISCO - The Oregon State women's soccer team's Sydney Studer took home the sole Pac-12 postseason award, as announced Wednesday.
Â
The junior had an excellent season and for her efforts, she was named to the Pac- 12 All-Conference Second Team.
Â
"Syd had an outstanding year, both offensively and defensively," said head coach Matt Kagan. "Awards in the Pac-12 are extremely hard to achieve and Syd deserves this accolade. We are all very proud of her!"
Â
Studer has been a force to be reckoned with on both sides of the field. A defensive player, she found her way to contribute massively on the offense. Just a couple of weeks ago, Studer was named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week after scoring a hat trick against Utah (4/4).Â
Â
An Eastvale, Calif. native, Studer led the team with 14 points and seven goals. All but just one of her scores went into the goal off her head after a corner kick (including all three in her hat trick). The final goal was taken from the defensive box to the other side of the field for a canon shot into the net.Â
Â
On the field as a defender, Studer played on the field for the third-most minutes, second-most for a field player - behind just redshirt-sophomore defender Madison Ellsworth.Â
Â
As a team, Oregon State finished with a 4-11-1 overall record. The Beavers will be back to playing in the fall in just a few months.
