SEATTLE, Wash. - The Oregon State women's soccer team fell, 2-0, at No. 22 Washington, Sunday night.

"Unfortunately, we didn't play well today," said head coach Matt Kagan. "I give a lot of credit to Washington. This was the first time this year I felt like we didn't give a great effort."

The Huskies came out with a fire, tallying six shots before scoring the first goal of the game in the 27th minute.

The Beavers' sole shot on goal came off a high ball from sophomore Brianna McReynolds.

With the clock at 37:00, junior Sydney Studer shot a rocket of a free kick into the goal box where it was headed by a Washington defender. McReynolds collected the ball for the shot on goal from just outside the box.

Just two minutes after the Beavers' attempt at net, the Huskies notched a successful penalty kick for the 2-0 lead headed into halftime.

Oregon State saw more possession time in the second half but the Washington defense did not allow one shot on goal throughout the entire half.

OSU quickly took possession of the ball, holding the play in their offensive half for the first couple of minutes.

The Beavers and the Huskies continued back and forth for a solid 20 minutes before Oregon State was able to get their first shot of the half.

Around the 65-minute mark, Studer dribbled the ball from the back, on OSU's defensive half, past four defenders for an attempt at a goal but the shot went wide.

Three minutes later, redshirt-sophomore Madison Ellsworth took a free kick to enter the ball into the goalie box but the Husky goalkeeper grabbed the ball before a Beaver could take advantage.

Senior Kaillen Fried followed up with the final shot from outside the goalie box in the 70th minute.

In the final 20 minutes, the Beavers were unable to create any chances to score a goal and the Huskies took the 2-0 win.

Junior goalkeeper Bridgette Skiba tallied five saves with the OSU defense combining to stop 25 of 27 shots from Washington.

"We have one more great opportunity against Oregon," continued Kagan. "We will be ready to go."

Oregon State will return to action for their final game of 2021 at Oregon on Friday, April 16 at 6 pm.
