
OSU Drops Match Two to No. 16 Washington State

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State women's volleyball dropped match two against 16th-ranked Washington State on Sunday afternoon in Gill Coliseum.
The Cougars took the in three set sweep (25-17, 25-20, 25-20).
Following Oregon State taking an early in set one 3-2 lead, Washington State jumped ahead 10-5 to force OSU to call its first timeout of the match. The Beavers had to burn their second timeout after Wazzu's lead grew to seven, 20-13.
Out of the timeout, Oregon State went on a 3-0 run to cut its deficit to four at 20-16. The Cougars closed the set on a 5-1 run to earn the 25-17 opening set win.
The Beavers came out strong to open the second set, going up 10-6 early with a 4-0 run that included an Anastasija Svetnik kill to make WSU call a timeout. Grace Massey served up an ace out of the timeout to extend the OSU lead to five.
Wazzu answered with a 7-3 run, cutting the Beaver lead to one at 14-13 and forcing OSU to call a timeout. Just six points later after a 5-1 Cougar run, Oregon State used its second timeout of the set.
WSU opened its advantage to 23-18, but back-to-back Svetnik kills brought the Beavers to within three. However, Wazzu went on to capture the 25-20 set win to go up 2-0 in the match.
Oregon State used its first timeout in the third set after the Cougars went on top 10-6. Behind 22-13 late, the Beavers called their second timeout and followed with a 7-2 run to make the score 24-20. WSU took the next points for the match sweep with a 25-20 set win.

- Freshman Izzi Szulczewski posted a team-best 23 assists.
- Senior Grace Massey recorded a game-best of 9 digs.
- The Beaver's tallied 34 digs compared to 31 for Washington State.
