
Hayes Makes History, Beavers Fall to Buffaloes in Double OT

Kicker sets Oregon State record with 60-yard kick

Hayes' kick surpassed the previous mark of 58, set by Chris Mangold (1982) and Alexis Serna (2006). B.J. Baylor scored a touchdown to match Colorado's score in the first overtime, but the Buffaloes prevailed with a field goal in the second overtime period.

Baylor rushed for 98 yards and the OT score, as he moved up to 28th on the Beavers' career rushing list. Trey Lowe accounted for 112 yards of total offense, including a 31-yard touchdown scamper. Â

Chance Nolan came up with 255 yards and a touchdown through the air, to go along with 39 rushing yards. Tre'Shaun Harrison finished with three catches for 47 yards and a score.

Jaydon Grant, Alex Austin and Avery Roberts led the Beavers with eight tackles apiece. Kitan Oladapo recorded seven tackles including three for loss.

Colorado jumped in front early, scoring on its first two offensive possessions to take a 10-0 lead. The Beavers answered with a 14-yard Jack Colletto touchdown rush early in the second quarter to get back within three.

 The Buffaloes tacked on another field goal before halftime, as CU headed to the break in front 13-7.

The defenses controlled the early parts of the third quarter, until Colorado found the endzone with just over five minutes to play in the period. The Beavers bounced back with a 31-yard touchdown scamper from Lowe to get back within three.

Oregon State took the lead with just over eight minutes to play, as Nolan found Harrison for a 27-yard touchdown strike to cap of a 14-play, 80-yard drive. Colorado scored a touchdown with 2:24 on the clock. The Beavers drove down the field to set up Hayes' field goal to force overtime.

Colorado scored on its first possession of overtime, but Oregon State came back with a Baylor touchdown to force a second extra session. After OSU failed to score in the second OT period, the Buffaloes won the game with a field goal.

The Beavers will return home this week, as Oregon State will take on Stanford Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
