Pac-12 Comes Together to Create Gymnasts for Peace, Action, and Change (G-PAC)
Seldom in our nation's history has the mission of fostering diversity and inclusion been more important. To further the conversation and push forward these goals, gymnasts from each Pac-12 program have formed "Gymnasts for Peace, Action, and Change" (G-PAC), a student-athlete driven organization. With all eight programs represented, these gymnasts will work to share ideas, formulate meet themes, host webinars, welcome guest speakers to campus, and more.
Â
Oregon State will be represented on G-PAC by senior Lena Greene. Greene came to OSU from Tigard, Ore. and she is majoring in bioengineering with minors in Spanish and business & entrepreneurship. Greene has been named All-Pac-12 in both seasons she competed during. Both awards made for vault, 2018 saw her with second-team honors while in 2019 she earned honorable mention.
Â
"I am honored to be a part of an organization like G-PAC as it will facilitate the necessary steps it takes to make meaningful change in our sport, and our conference." Greene said. "Now more than ever, the emphasis of diversity and inclusion is vital to our progression as young adults in society. We must continuously fight for a more equal and just world, and I believe G-PAC will do its part in the gymnastics community."
Â
G-PAC Mission Statement: G-PAC facilitates an environment where diversity and inclusion is both welcomed and encouraged. Strives to ignite lasting change by sharing experiences, providing others with education and outside resources, and creating an authentic safe space for fellow student-athletes. Inspires others to thrive at the edge of their comfort zone furthering the journey to true equality.
