CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State assistant coach Nate Engel has been named to three of USA Wrestling's committees, the organization announced on Tuesday.
Engel, who is in his first year at Oregon State, is now on the following committees: Greco-Roman Sport, Women's Sport and Governance. He was named to the three committees during USA Wrestling's Board of Directors meeting which was held on August 15.
"Thank you to USA wrestling and the voting members for putting me on these three boards, I am truly honored," Engel said. "It's great to be able to have a voice in our Olympic styles to help our athletes and our sport to continue to grow. I am excited for the work ahead."
"I'm very excited for Coach Engel to be selected to these committees," Oregon State head coach Chris Pendleton said. "There's no one more deserving. At Oregon State we are committed to support the community on every aspect of the sport regardless of gender or style and this reflects that."
Engel also serves as the Director of the California Regional Training Center (RTC). He coached the U.S. Junior Greco World Team at the Junior World Championships in Slovakia in September 2018.
"It is fantastic to see Nate's leadership in the sport recognized at the highest levels of USA Wrestling," said Dan Bartholomae, Oregon State executive deputy athletic director. "Nate has been an immediate asset to Beaver Nation and there is no doubt he will make important contributions at the national level through his work on these important committees."
Engel joined head coach Chris Pendleton's staff in 2020 after one year as an assistant at Stanford. He was also an assistant coach at Navy from 2014-18. While with Navy, Engel landed consecutive top-20 recruiting classes as well as two recruits ranked first in the nation.
