CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State men's golf team earned a Division I Academic Progress Rate (APR) Public Recognition Award from the NCAA on Tuesday.
The APR is an annual scorecard of academic achievement calculated for all Division I sports teams nationally. The most recent APRs are multiyear rates based on scores from the 2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19 academic years.
The Oregon State men's golf team had a perfect 1,000 score during those four academic years. Programs received a Public Recognition Award from the NCAA if they scored in the top 10 percent of its sport.
"We are committed to competing at the highest level on the course while providing our student-athletes with the resources necessary to compete and graduate with a meaningful degree from Oregon State," head coach Jon Reehoorn said. "This award is recognition of the hard work our student-athletes have made to prepare for a successful future in the next step of their lives."
The APR is calculated as follows:
This is the 11th time an Oregon State team has earned an NCAA Public Recognition Award. Other programs to receive the prestigious recognition are women's cross country (2005-06, 2006-07), women's track (2005-06, 2006-07, 2009-10), women's golf (2008-09), men's golf (2012-13) and women's basketball (2014-15, 2015-16, 2016-17),

The APR is calculated as follows:
- Each student-athlete receiving athletically related financial aid earns one point for staying in school and one point for being academically eligible.
- A team's total points are divided by points possible and then multiplied by 1,000 to equal the team's Academic Progress Rate.
- In addition to a team's current-year APR, its rolling four-year APR is also used to determine accountability.
