Rylan Johnson Sets Course Record In Arizona
December 30, 2025 | Men's Golf
LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – Oregon State senior Rylan Johnson set a course record at the Sterling Grove Golf and Country Club on Tuesday. Johnson is participating in the 2025 Thunderbolt event.
Johnson is tied for first with a 5-under 137 due in large part to a course-record 8-under 63 on the second day of play. He's tied with Marquette's Vincent Cervantes after 36 holes.
Johnson finished with a bogey-free round, finishing with eight birdies, giving him 10 on the event thus far. The Thunderbolt completes play on Wednesday.
"It just felt good to go out there and be mistake free for the most part – any time you go bogey-free it feels great, that's for sure," Johnson said. "To have my brother on the bag and keep me calm, cool and collected out there, it felt good."
"Today was some great playing by Rylan," Oregon State head coach Jon Reehoorn said. "All of our guys have been competing over winter break from Thailand to the Bahamas and have had some great success. They are really pushing one another to keep raising the bar.
"Tomorrow it will be roommates - Johnson and Collin Hodgkinson - pushing one another to win a tournament. I'm looking forward to having everyone back on campus and getting our season started back up."
Johnson's teammate, Hodgkinson, is within striking distance of first. He's tied for fourth with a 3-under 139. He finished with a 2-under 69 on day one, followed by a one-under 70 on Tuesday.
