CORVALLIS -- The Oregon State University Foundation, in partnership with OSU Athletics, has named Aaron Escobar the new Senior Associate Athletic Director/Vice President for Athletic Development.
Â
Escobar is a deeply experienced fundraiser and advancement leader who joined the OSU Foundation in 2002. He begins his new position on May 1, serving as lead fundraiser for Oregon State Athletics and providing leadership to Our Beaver Nation, which generates support for the university's student-athletes and athletic programs.
Â
"I am delighted to have a leader in this position who has such deep experience with our institution – especially during these challenging times," said Shawn Scoville, president and CEO of the OSU Foundation. "Aaron has deep personal passion for Beaver Athletics as well as a proven track record as an outstanding fundraiser."
Â
Escobar will serve as a member of the OSU Athletics executive team to provide strategic direction and leadership for a comprehensive annual fundraising plan.
Â
"Aaron has a tremendous passion for OSU Athletics and his long-time affiliation with our institution both as an alum and leading fundraiser make him a great fit for this critical role," Vice President and Director of Athletics Scott Barnes said. "Aaron brings an impressive level of experience and pedigree to our team and has a wonderfully authentic ability to connect with people. I look forward to his contributions as an executive staff member."
Â
Most recently Escobar served as associate vice president of development with fundraising responsibility for the divisions of business and engineering and the health sciences as well as OSU-Cascades. His previous assignments with the OSU Foundation include development roles with the Carlson College of Veterinary Medicine, Oregon 4-H, OSU Extension and the Honors College.
Â
Escobar is a frequent speaker at CASE (Council for Advancement and Support of Education) District VIII conferences. He began his fundraising career with the Oregon Trail Council of Boy Scouts of America. He earned his bachelor's degree in speech communications in the OSU College of Liberal Arts.
Â
"I have loved Beaver Athletics since I was a little kid, watching basketball games with my grandmother," Escobar said. "This is one of those incredibly rare opportunities when you get to blend a personal passion with your professional interests. Athletics was key to my own OSU story, and I know how important it is for Beaver Nation and our university as a whole. I'm honored to work with our incredible donors to take OSU Athletics to new heights."
