Oregon State opens the 2020 season Friday when taking on New Mexico in Surprise, Ariz. First pitch at Surprise Stadium is slated for 12 p.m. PT (1 p.m. in Arizona).

Oregon State finished the season 36-20-1 after hosting the Corvallis Regional for the third consecutive season. The Beavers were led by Adley Rutschman, who became the program's first-ever Golden Spikes Award and Dick Howser Trophy selection as the nation's top collegiate player.
Canham's First Game
Friday marks the first game for Mitch Canham as the Pat Casey Head Baseball Coach at Oregon State. Canham, who lettered at Oregon State from 2005-07, spent three-and-a-half years as a manager in the Seattle Mariners' organization before coming back to Corvallis last June. Canham helped lead Oregon State to three trips to Omaha as a player and national titles in 2006 and 2007.
Opening Day
Oregon State is 80-30 all-time in season openers. The Beavers are looking to stretch their winning streak to 11 games on opening day. Six of the previous 10 opening-day victories have come in one-run games, including a 6-5 win last season.
Been A Long Time Since That Happened
Oregon State is opening against New Mexico for the third consecutive season after defeating the Lobos 5-2 in 2018 and 6-5 last season. The last time the Beavers opened three straight seasons against the same club was 1976-78 when taking on Pacific (Ore.). The Beavers won all three versus Pacific.
In Surprise
Friday's game marks the sixth consecutive year Oregon State opens its season in Surprise, Ariz. The Beavers are 35-5 (.875) in Surprise over the past five seasons. OSU was 8-0 there last season.
Chamberlain On The Hill
Christian Chamberlain, the opening day starter for the Beavers, is making his seventh career start and 44th overall appearance since 2018. The junior lefty has been dominant versus non-conference foes over his first two seasons, posting a 5-1 record and 2.29 ERA in 55 innings. He has struck out 72 and given up just 30 hits.
First 11 Away From Home
The Beavers are playing their first 11 games away from home for the first time since the 2016 season, when also playing 11 straight away from Goss. OSU went 10-1 to open the 2016 season.
