Get to Know Sophie Conrad
September 24, 2019 | Women's Soccer
Part 3 of our series getting to know this year's freshman class continues with Sophie Conrad. She is a freshman from West Linn, Ore. who scored her first career goal last Thursday in Oregon State's 2-1 victory over Idaho.
What is your favorite thing about playing soccer at Oregon State?
My favorite thing is knowing that I'm improving everyday while being surrounded by some really awesome people.
How would you describe what it's like to play for Coach Kagan, Coach Ruiz-Williams and Coach Stirrett?
Playing for these coaches is an honor really. Each coach has their own experiences they bring into practice every day. I think it's so amazing that they're here to share it with us to make us better.
Does your number mean anything to you? If so, what does it mean?
The number 29 was one of the last numbers left, but I love that I get to wear it every gameday!
If you weren't playing soccer what would you be doing?
If I wasn't playing soccer here, I would still be attending school at Oregon State. I still haven't decided what I want to do when I grow up.
Who has had the biggest influence on your soccer career?
A lot of people have had big influences on my soccer career. The one that stands out the most is my high school coach, Lauren Pyrch. She's the one that kept pushing me to get better every day and telling me that was good and to keep working hard. I'm thankful every day for her pushing me.
Which of your teammates do you think is the funniest? Why?
The funniest person on this team has to either be Brooke Mobeck or Marley Salveter. Brooke is just one of those people who makes you laugh no matter what she does. Marley is someone who has the funniest comment at the perfect time.
If you could have dinner with any person, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
I would have dinner with Zac Efron because just look at him.
If you could go back in time what year would you travel to?
If I could time travel, I'd travel back to some random time just to yet to everyone that time travel exists, that way everyone now would know it exists in the future without actually having to travel to the future.
If you were a superhero what would your superpower be?
If I was a superhero, I would want to be able to teleport that way I wouldn't stress so much about being late.
If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?
If I could live anywhere, it would probably be on the coast of France because it's so pretty, and it's where my grandma is from.
If you could meet one soccer player who would it be and why?
I would definitely choose to meet Tobin Heath. She is just amazing.
