Davey LaCroix Joins Baseball Staff As Athletic Trainer
September 17, 2019 | Baseball
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Pat Casey Head Baseball Coach Mitch Canham announced Monday that Davey LaCroix will serve as the team's athletic trainer.
"Everyone who we've talked to about Davey has nothing but phenomenal things to say," Canham said. "He was coming from the Twins organization and we had two Beavs at Double-A with him and they were adamant that we were getting a special human being. He has genuine concern for student-athletes' well-being. He is a great fit for the Beaver family."
Like Canham, LaCroix is a veteran of the professional ranks and comes to Oregon State after three seasons with the Double-A Pensacola Blue Wahoos in the Minnesota Twins organization. In 2019, he worked with former Beavers Caleb Hamilton and Trevor Larnach.
Said Larnach: "Davey is a prime example of what it means to be in the culture of Oregon State baseball. Not just as an athletic trainer, but as a person. He is always putting others first and is always working as hard as possible to make sure things are done correctly for the greater good. Expect nothing less than outstanding feedback when student-athletes and staff are asked about him."
Said Hamilton: "Davey exemplifies what it means to be a great athletic trainer. His work ethic and making sure that everyone has what they need is crucial for keeping athletes healthy. He values his work and his relationships and is the perfect example of the Oregon State baseball standard."
LaCroix also spent nearly two full years in the Cincinnati Reds organization, working in the Dominican Summer League.
He is a 2013 graduate of Concordia-Wisconsin and he earned a Masters in education from Nebraska in 2015. He served as a graduate assistant with baseball at Nebraska from August 2013-December 2014.
