Beavers to Head North for Redhawk Invitational

OSU PREP FOR REDHAWK INVITATIONAL
• Oregon State visits the Emerald City this weekend seeking to improve its 3-2 record at the Redhawk Invitational hosted by Seattle U.
• The Beavers open the tourney against New Mexico, Friday at 2 p.m.
• OSU returns to the court Saturday for a pair of matches first against Gonzaga at 2 p.m.
• The Beavs complete the weekend against the host Redhawks at 6 p.m.
• This marks the third straight weekend the Beavers will be on the road before beginning the Pac-12 slate at home against Oregon on Sept. 26 ... OSU will have played 11 matches before appearing in Gill Coliseum.

AGAINST THE LOBOS
• It has been over 20 years since the Beavers and Lobos matched up with OSU taking the last meeting 3-0 in 1998. Overall UNM leads the all-time series 4-1.
AGAINST THE BULLDOGS
• The Beavers and Bulldogs meet for the first time since the Zags took five set match at a tournament in Wyoming in 2011. Overall OSU has a 5-2 advantage in the all-time series
AGAINST THE REDHAWKS
• Oregon State faces off with Seattle for the second year in a row. The Beavers upended the Redhawks in a three-set win in Corvallis in 2018 and lead the all-time series 7-0.
LAST WEEK
• The Beavers dropped a five set decision to Oklahoma to begin the Hoosier Invite last Thursday. OSU got up two sets to none before falling late. Maddie Goings set a career-high with 26 kills and L Grace Massey amassed 28 digs. But the Beavers lost starting OH Chloe Brown to injury for the remainder of the tournament while setter Maddie Sheehan battled illness throughout the weekend.
• Playing at 7 a.m. PT on Friday, the Beavers fell in three sets to host Indiana in their second outing of the tourney. Goings registered a match-high 15 kills and DS Makenna Browne set a career-high with 7 digs and a pair of aces against the Hoosiers.
• In the Beavers' final match of the weekend, freshman OH Cecilee Max-Brown posted the first double-double of her career with 21 kills and 11 digs to lead OSU past Yale in four sets. Goings collected 15 kills and 19 digs while OPP Haylie Bennett, starting in the place of Brown, just missed her career-high notching 18 kills against the Bulldogs.
• Freshmen Mary Kate Lopez and Taylor Quinn each earned their first collegiate playing time on Friday against Yale.
• Goings was named to the Hoosier Invite All-Tournament Team.
DIGGING THROUGH THE RECORD BOOKS
• Junior libero Grace Massey ranks 11th in OSU history with 1,082 career digs. She will very likely move into OSU's Top Ten this week at the Redhawk Invitational and needs 19 digs to tie Ashley Evans (2005-08) for 10th.
• Massey, who entered the season with 993 digs, became the 16th player in OSU history to amass 1,000 career digs during the first match of the season, against UC Irvine at the Oregon Classic.
• Junior outside hitter Maddie Goings has also moved into the Beavers' top 30 with 685 career digs.
SETTING THE OFFENSE
• Sophomore setter Maddie Sheehan became the 13th player in school history to register 1,000 career assists.
• Senior setter Montanna Gubrud, who transferred into the program in 2018, set an OSU career-high with 33 assists in the Beavers' win over Yale last weekend.
KORY IS CRUSHING
• Redshirt senior Kory Cheshire is attacking the defense at an unprecedented rate. Cheshire has posted 39 kills on 69 swings with just two errors (.536 hitting percentage) through the first five matches of the year.
• In fact, it took until the season's fourth game (12 k, 0 e, 38 a) before Cheshire committed an error.
GOINGS IS KILLING IT
• Junior Maddie Goings, who moved to the right side to begin the season, leads the team with 4.0 kills per set (72 total).
• Goings registered 56 kills at the Hoosier Invite for a 4.67 k/s clip en route to earning all-tournament honors.
• Goings now has 786 kills in her career which ranks 23rd in OSU history.
