Beavers Open Season at the Oregon Classic

OSU Opens at Oregon Classic
• Oregon State opens the 2019 season this week when the Beavers travels to Eugene to participate in the Oregon Classic.
• The Beavers square off with UC Irvine on Friday at 11 a.m. to open the tournament.
• OSU returns to the court Friday evening for its second, and final, match of opening weekend against Boston College at 5 p.m.
• For the second year in a row, Oregon State will be on the road for the first four weekends to begin the season (11 matches).

• Oregon State has an overall 2-2 all-time record against Friday's opponents. The Beavers are 2-2 against UC Irvine and will square off with Boston College for the first time in school history.
The Squad
• Oregon State welcomes five newcomers to the 2019 squad. Four freshmen - S Mary Kate Lopez, OH Cecilee Max-Brown, DS Taylor Quinn, MB Amya Small - and transfer OH Chloe Brown (Miami [FL]). Brown and Quinn arrived on campus in time to participate in spring practice.
• The team returns 11 returning letterwinners, including six seniors, as well as six returning starters.
Aces
• Amy Underdown posted 406 kills in 2018, the eighth-most by a junior in OSU history; Maddie Goings posted 393 kills, the sixth-most by a sophomore in OSU history.
• Grace Massey finished the 2018 season with 560 digs, the most in OSU history by a sophomore and third-most in a single season.
• Massey enters her junior season on the verge of eclipsing the 1,000 career digs mark (993).
• Maddie Sheehan recorded 973 assists in 2018, the fourth-most by a freshman in OSU history.
• Lindsey Schell registered 98 total blocks as a freshman in 2018, the eighth-most by an OSU freshman.
