Baseball Earns Academic Excellence Award For Fourth Time
July 25, 2019 | Baseball
CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State baseball team has received the Team Academic Excellence Award from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) for the fourth consecutive year.
The Beavers are one of just 13 teams nationally, and one of just three from the Power 5 Conferences, to be recognized in every season since the ABCA created the honor after the 2016 season. Oregon State is also the only Pac-12 Conference school to be honored over the four-year stretch.
To be eligible for the honor, teams must maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average during the academic year. Oregon State's for the 2018-19 academic year was 3.14.
Oregon State also placed 16 student-athletes on the Pac-12 Conference's All-Academic teams, with Ryan Ober on the first team and Andy Armstrong on the second team.
The other 12 programs to have received the recognition all four years include: Ball State, Chicago State, Cincinnati, Duke, East Carolina, Eastern Kentucky, Gardner-Webb, Louisville, McNeese State, Portland, St. John's and UAB.
