
Beau Philip Selected By Atlanta

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State junior shortstop Beau Philip has been selected in the second round, 60th overall by the Atlanta Braves in the 2019 MLB First-Year Player Draft on Monday.

Philip just completed a junior season for the Beavers that saw him bat .311 with a team-best 14 doubles, one triple, five home runs and 31 runs batted in. Defensively, he was stellar, totaling just six errors in 44 games, all of which were starts.

Philip is the second Beaver to be selected Monday, following Adley Rutschman at first overall.

A native of Sacramento, Calif., Philip is the fourth Oregon State player to ever be taken by Atlanta and the first since Brian Stamps in 2011.
