Six Women’s Golfers Earn All-Academic Honors

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Olivia Benzin, Susie Cavanagh, Amanda Minni, Mari Nishiura, Nicole Schroeder and Ellie Slama all received Pac-12 All-Academic recognition, the conference office announced Thursday.
The six selections are the most of any school in the Pac-12 and the most in one year in the history of the program. The previous school record was four in 2010.
Nishiura, a junior from Mililani, Hawai'i, was selected to the Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team for her 3.73 cumulative GPA in accounting. She was named an All-American Scholar by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) last summer.
Benzin, a senior from Tacoma, Wash., earned Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention recognition for the second straight year for her 3.54 cumulative GPA in business. She was selected to the Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team in 2017.
Cavanagh, a senior from Warwick, R.I., earned Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention recognition for the second straight year for her 3.38 cumulative GPA in sociology.
Minni, a sophomore from Delta, B.C., earned Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention in her first eligible year for her 3.27 cumulative GPA in business.
Schroeder, a junior from Rocklin, Calif., earned Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention recognition for the second straight year for her 3.40 cumulative GPA in marketing.
Slama, a sophomore from Salem, Ore., earned Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention in her first eligible year for her 3.46 cumulative GPA in kinesiology.
An Oregon State women's golfer has now earned conference all-academic honors every year since 2000 and a total of 50 times since the recognition began in 1992.
In order to be eligible for the Pac-12 All-Academic teams, a student-athlete must have a grade point average of 3.00 or better and must be a starter or significant contributor.
