CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State women's golf head coach Dawn Shockley announced Thursday the addition of Kate Ly who will join the program beginning with the 2026-27 season.
"We are excited about Kate's competitive nature and desire to grow," Shockley said. "Her skill set, love for the game and work ethic make her a great addition to the team. We have watched Kate over the years and look forward to seeing all that she accomplishes in her time at Oregon State."
Ly, a native of Portland, Ore., will be a four-year letterwinner in golf at Cleveland High School at the conclusion of the 2026 spring season. Her best career score is a 4-under 68.
She chose Oregon State because: "It's a perfect fit both academically and athletically. The golf program has an amazing culture and coaching staff, and I know I'll be able to continue improving my game while earning a great education."
Ly carries a 3.96 cumulative GPA at Cleveland High School and is a member of the National Honor Society. Her hobbies are baking and reading. She added: I've been involved in several community service activities, including volunteering at fundraisers for my school golf team and my Chinese class trip. I've also participated in local park cleanups, where I helped remove invasive ivy and pick up trash."
Her sister, Kyra Ly, is a senior on the Oregon State women's golf team and had the best single-season scoring average in program history last season with a 71.88 to help her earn All-America recognition.
