May 15, 2019 | Women's Golf
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Ellie Slama is prepared for the NCAA Division I Women's Golf National Championships, which begins Friday in Fayetteville, Ark.
Slama qualified for the National Championships as one of the top three individuals not on a qualifying team during the NCAA Regionals in Cle Elum, Wash.
She is just the fifth Oregon State women's golfer to advance to Nationals as an individual, joining All-American Kathleen Takaishi in 1999, Anica Yoo in 2015, Susie Cavanagh in 2017 and Nicole Schroeder last year.
Slama is enjoying one of the best seasons in Oregon State history. She was selected to the All-Pac-12 First Team, named Pac-12 Golfer of the Month for October, won the individual title at the Trinity Forest Invitational, set the program record with seven top-10 finishes and has a school-record scoring average of 71.69.
She was also one of 72 of the best golfers in the world invited to the inaugural Augusta National Women's Amateur that was held in Augusta, Ga., in April.
CHAMPIONSHIP FORMAT: The NCAA National Championships consists of 24 teams and 12 individuals completing 54 holes of stroke play. The top 15 teams along with the top nine individuals not on an advancing team will advance for one additional day of stroke play to determine the top eight teams for match play competition and the 72-hole stroke play individual champion. The top eight teams then compete in match play for the championship.
COURSE: The NCAA National Championships will be held at the par-73, 6,473-yard Blessings Golf Club.
TEE TIMES: Ellie Slama will tee off at 12:50 p.m. CT (10:50 a.m. PT) in the first round on Friday. She will be paired with Kaitlin Milligan of Oklahoma and Aneka Seumanutafa of Ohio State. The threesome will tee off at 8:10 a.m. CT (6:10 a.m. PT) in the second round on Saturday. The tee times for Sunday's round will be determined by individual standings after the first two rounds.
