McShane Improves Own School Record at High Performance Meet

CORVALLIS – Junior Lindsay McShane continued rewriting the record books at home on Friday night as the Oregon State track & field team competed at the first day of the High Performance Meet at the Whyte Track & Field Center in Corvallis.
McShane nearly tied her previous record of 196-feet, 4-inches on her first throw, but broke 60 meters for the first time in her career on the second throw improving her own school record in the hammer throw. Her record-setting mark of 199-feet, 0-inches earned her a second place finish at home.
The Beavers had three others record top-10 finishes in the hammer throw: 5th Jessica Molina - 175-feet, 9-inches; 6th Keely McLaughlin – 175-feet, 0-inches; 7th Sydney Guthrie-Baker - 170-feet, 3-inches.
Freshman Grace Fetherstonhaugh grabbed the first win of the night for Oregon State in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Fetherstonhaugh jumped out in the lead and never looked back as she finished with a time of 10-minutes, 31.17-seconds. Her finish was the fourth-best in Oregon State history.
In the final event of the night for Oregon State another freshman had a great performance winning the 5,000 meters. Haley Wolf waited all evening to compete, but made the most of her race winning it by nearly a second and a half. Wolf finished with a time of 16-minutes, 33.44-seconds.
Other all-time marks or times set by the Beavers on Friday: Shot Put – Lindsay McShane, 164-feet, 6-inches; 1,500M – Lexi Reed, 4-minutes, 26.56-seconds.
