Beavers to Host Regionals at Gill

THE MEET
The No. 15 Oregon State gymnastics team (17-5) enters the postseason by hosting the NCAA Regional Championships in Gill Coliseum ... The Beavers are the four-seed (top two finishers qualify to NCAA Championships) ... This week's regionals mark the first time OSU has hosted the event since 2013 ... Oregon State will take the floor Friday at 7 p.m. in the second session of the Second Round.
THE FORMAT
The regional has a new format in 2019 with nine teams converging on Corvallis with two advancing to the NCAA Championships in Fort Worth, Texas, April 19-20 ... The First Round of the regional is slated for 3 p.m. on Thursday with 8th-seeded Iowa facing 9th-seeded Arizona. The winner advances to the Second Round on Friday ... Friday's Second Round consists of two quad meets. Denver (the 2 seed), Boise State (3), Washington (5) and Southern Utah (6) compete in Session I at 2 p.m. while the evening session features Florida (1), Oregon State (4), Stanford (7) and the winner of Iowa and Arizona at 7 p.m. ... The Regional Final is set for Saturday at 7 p.m. with the top two finishers from each of the Second Round sessions competing.
REGIONALS IN CORVALLIS
• Oregon State will host the 2019 NCAA Regional Championships April 4-6.
• All-session tickets are available now for the three-day regional competition.
• All-session reserved passes are $42. Adult general admission is $27 and senior (62 and up)/youth (ages 3-18) general admission is $21.
• Single session tickets will go on sale at 9 a.m. each day of the regional competition for that day's session(s) only.
• Tickets can be secured by visiting BeaverTickets.com, by calling 1-800-GO-BEAVS and at the OSU Ticket Office.

OSU AT NCAA REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Here are some quick hitters about Oregon State's history in the NCAA Regional Championships:
• Oregon State has reached the regional round of postseason competition for the 45th straight season.
• OSU has won regional titles 10 time including twice under Tanya Chaplin's leadership (2008 and 2011).
• Thirty-four OSU gymnasts have combined to win 71 individual regional titles.
• Oregon State has already faced Washington, Iowa and Arizona this season defeating all three ... OSU also competed indirectly against Stanford at Pac-12 Championships but the teams were in opposite sessions.
LAST YEAR AT REGIONALS
The Beavers entered the NCAA Raleigh Regional as the third-seeded team. OSU, which had not counted a fall the entire season, struggled in the final rotation and was forced to count a pair of falls on the balance beam to finish sixth in the meet.
INCREDIBLE SENIORS
• The trio of Mariana Colussi-Pelaez, Mary Jacobsen and McKenna Singley has combined to hit 75 out of 79 routines thus far in 2019.
• Mariana Colussi-Pelaez, a microbiology major with an option in pre-med and minors in chemistry and Spanish, learned she has been accepted to medical school at University College Cork in Ireland.
• Mary Jacobsen, who studies computer science, has landed a job with Google upon graduation later this spring.
• McKenna Singley, who is majoring in sociology with an option in crime and justice, has recently been accepted to the University of Utah's S.J. Quinney College of Law.
OREGON STATE NOTES
• The Beavers returned 22 out of 24 routines from the 2018 NCAA Regionals lineup this season. However, only 14 of those routines remain in the lineup as of last Friday's regular season finale.
• Oregon State has 'hit' 244 out of 264 (92.4%) routines in 2019 ... in comparison, the Beavers 'hit' 274 out of 288 (95.1%) routines last year.
• The Beavers have hit 24-for-24 only once this season - against California, Feb. 17.
• OSU has counted three falls in 2019 - against Utah (beam), against Alaska and Bowling Green (beam), and at Pac-12 Championships (beam).
• Through 11 meets, OSU's routine production breakdown looks like this: Juniors have performed 94 of 264 routines in 2019 (35.6%), seniors have produced 79 of 264 (29.9%), sophomores 59 of 264 (22.3%) and freshmen 32 of 264 (12.1%).
• Fifteen of OSU's 20 opponents on the 2019 schedule are ranked in this week's Top 36, including five among the top six; No. 2 UCLA, No. 3 LSU, No. 4 Florida, No. 5 Denver, No. 6 Utah, No. 9 Kentucky, No. 12 Boise State, No. 15 California, No. 18 Washington, No. 21 Arizona State, No. 24 Southern Utah, No. 25 Stanford, No. 29 Illinois, No. 32 Iowa, No. 33 Arizona and No. 36 Lindenwood.
• Seventeen OSU gymnasts earned a 3.0 GPA or better during fall term - 11 of those were 3.5 or above including two 4.0s. The Beavers represent seven different colleges among their majors and two study in the Honors College.
QUICK STICKS
• All four of OSU's lineups are ranked among the top 25 in the nation. The floor lineup is the highest ranked for the Beavers at No. 10 (49.330, National Qualifying Score), beam is tied at No. 15 (49.160), vault is at No. 16 (49.105) and bars ranks 24th (49.075).
• OSU scored 197.450 against UCLA, tying the sixth-highest score in school history.
• The Beavers registered a 49.600 on the floor exercise, missing the school-record by just .100, and besting the Bruins' top-ranked floor lineup.
• Oregon State opened the season on the road for the third straight season ... the Beavers now have a 5-0 record in those road season-openers.
• Madi Dagen earned Pac-12 honors for the first time in her career when she was named as the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week following the Beavers' win at Arizona, Feb. 8. She tied her career-high with a 9.875 on the vault and won the first event titles of her career on vault and beam (9.90).
• Kaitlyn Yanish picked up Pac-12 Specialist of the Week honors for the first time in her career following OSU's win at Arizona State, Feb. 22. She registered a career-best 9.90 on the vault to win the event title and addeda 9.925 on the floor to tie for the event high.
• Yanish earned Pac-12 Specialist of the Week for the second time following her performance at LSU, March 8. She posted a career-best 9.925 on the vault to win the event title and added a 9.950 on the floor exercise to finish third.
LAST TIME OUT AT PAC-12 CHAMPIONSHIPS
• Oregon State, ranked No. 14, opened the competition on the balance beam and fell behind early following back-to-back falls. Despite the adversity, the Beavers pressed on catching up to fourth-seeded California and narrowly finishing third with a score of 196.600-196.575 over the Bears.
• Mary Jacobsen nailed her vault to score 9.90 tying for third on the event.
• Isis Lowery and Mariana Colussi-Pelaez tallied a team-leading 9.90 on the uneven bars.
• Madi Dagen and Maela Lazaro each recorded scores of 9.90 on the balance beam to earn third-place finishes.
• Isis Lowery was lights out on the floor exercise tying her career-best with a 9.950 to tie for fourth.

LOADING UP FOR 2020
In November, three gymnasts signed the National Letters of Intent to join the Oregon State gymnastics program for the 2019-20 academic year. Kayla Bird (Chandler, Ariz.), Jenna Domingo (Honolulu, Hawai'i) and Jane Poniewaz (Henderson, Nev.) are scheduled to enroll at Oregon State this coming summer ... In addition, 2018 signee Jade Carey (Phoenix, Ariz.), who has deferred her enrollment this year to train for the U.S. National Team, plans to attend OSU in the future. Carey earned a pair of silver medals for Team USA at the 2017 World Championships.
