Thompson Jr. To Participate In Portsmouth Invitational

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Stephen Thompson Jr. was one of 64 seniors selected to participate in the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament.
The 12-game tournament will be played Wednesday through Sunday at the Churchland High School Sports Complex in Portsmouth, Va., in front of representatives from every NBA team.
All 64 players from last year's Portsmouth Invitational Tournament are currently playing professionally either in the NBA, the G-League or overseas. The last two years 32 of the 128 players who participated have spent time on an NBA team during the regular season.
Thompson Jr. concluded his four-year Oregon State career as the program's all-time leader in 3-pointers (230), fourth in scoring (1,767) and tied for eight in steals (177). This past season he was selected to the All-Pac-12 Second Team and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) District 20 Second Team after averaging 16.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.5 steals per game.
A native of Los Angeles, Thompson Jr. was a three-time Pac-12 All-Academic First Team selection. He was named the 2018-19 Pac-12 Scholar Athlete of the Year and selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District® 8 Men's Basketball First Team in 2018 and 2019.
Thompson Jr. earned his Oregon State bachelor's degree in digital communication arts in three years with a cumulative GPA of 3.57.
