Beavers Set For Two-Day Tourney In Tucson

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State women's golf team returns to action Monday and Tuesday at the Wildcat Invitational in Tucson, Ariz.
The Beavers are ranked No. 29 in the nation in the latest golfstat.com rankings.
FIELD (17): Oregon State, Arizona, Arizona State, Denver, Fresno State, GCU, Iowa, Iowa State, Long Beach State, Michigan, NAU, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Oregon, Purdue, San Diego State and UNLV.
COURSE: The tournament will be held at the Sewailo Golf Club.
BEAVERS' LINEUP: Oregon State will go with a lineup of seniors Olivia Benzin and Susie Cavanagh, juniors Mari Nishiura and Nicole Schroeder, and sophomore Ellie Slama.
FORMAT: Two-day, 54-hole tournament with 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday. The top-four individuals from each five-member team with the lowest scores for each 18-hole round constitute the scoring members for that given round.
TEE TIMES: There will be a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. on Monday and a shotgun start at 8 a.m. on Tuesday.
LIVE SCORING: There will be live scoring for the tournament at golfstat.com.

LAST TIME OUT: The Beavers finished in fourth place at the 16-team Westbrook Spring Invitational after shooting an 8-under 286-287-283--856 at the par-72, 6,432-yard Westbrook Village Golf Club Vistas Course.
Nebraska won the team title with an 11-under 853, Oklahoma was second with a 10-under 854 and Illinois finished third with a 9-under 855.
Oregon State's 8-under 856 is the third-lowest three-round score in program history. The Beavers never finished a three-round tournament under par in their first 41 years and have now done it four times the last two seasons.

The successful start to the spring season makes it five top-five finishes in six tournaments in 2018-19 for head coach Dawn Shockley and the Beavers.
Oregon State finished in second place in its first two tournaments of the fall, the East West Match Play Challenge and the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational, won the team title at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown and finished third at the Trinity Forest Invitational.
Ellie Slama and Mari Nishiura led the Beavers in the first tourney of the spring, as they both finished in a tie for 11th place with a 3-under 213. Slama had rounds of 70-72-71 and Nishiura posted scores of 74-69-70.
Nicole Schroeder had one tough hole in the final round, but continued to battle throughout the day, and finished in a tie for 19th place with a 1-under 69-70-76--215.
Olivia Benzin finished in a tie for 43rd place with a 3-over 73-76-70--219 and Susie Cavanagh finished in a tie for 72nd with an 8-over 75-77-72--224.
Freshman Lauren Murphy competed in her first collegiate tournament as an individual and finished in a tie for 78th with a 9-over 73-80-72--225.
