Get to Know Lexie Gonzales
This week's Get to Know features Lexie Gonzales. A sophomore from Newport Beach, Calif., Lexie began the season in the vault lineup tallying a high of 9.725 at Washington. The proud owner of a bearded dragon named Rex (yes, they are Lex and Rex), exhibitioned several times in 2019 in the vault and beam lineups and remains an alternate on both events. The digital communication arts major has hit all three of her routines so far this season.
Â
What OSU team do you get most excited to watch?
Men's soccer! I have a lot of friends on that team and it's so exciting when they score a goal!
Â
Where would you most like to live someday?
I love my hometown of Newport Beach and definitely want to go back and live there when I can.
Â
How many U.S. states have you visited?
Ten maybe? It's so hard to keep track.
Â
What is your secret power/talent?
I can sing, play the ukulele and play a little bit of piano!
Â
What fad or trend do you hope comes back?
Carrying little dogs in purses as a fashion statement. It really needs to be a thing again! Who doesn't love a little dog?
Â
What fictional place would you most like to go?
I've always wanted to be a student at Hogwart's School of Witchcraft and Wizardry!
Â
What's your favorite holiday?
Christmas!
Â
If you could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, what would you have a good chance at winning a medal for?
If bearded dragon racing was a thing, Rex would definitely get the gold!
Â
Are you usually early or late?
I'm really bad at getting ready in a reasonable amount of time, so I'm always late!
Â
Horror or romance?
Romance. I'm scared of the dark so horror movies cause me way too much stress.
Â
Read or watch the movie?
Watch the movie. I love picking apart movies and critiquing the cinematography, music choices, acting, etc.
Â
Hang gliding or whitewater rafting?
I almost drowned whitewater rafting one time … so hang gliding.
Â
Sushi or tacos?
Sushi! I'm a sucker for some fresh salmon sashimi!
Â
What is the most annoying question that people ask you?
When people who don't really know gymnastics ask, "can you do a backflip?" or "are you going to the Olympics?"
Â
What is something that a lot of people are obsessed with but you just don't get the point?
Those slime videos where it's literally someone playing with Silly Putty and people think it's really satisfying to watch.
