Beavers To Open Spring Season In Arizona

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State women's golf team will open its spring season at the Westbrook Spring Invitational, which will be held Sunday and Monday in Peoria, Ariz.
The Beavers enter the spring season ranked 25th in the nation by golfstat.com, their highest ranking in program history.
FIELD (16): Oregon State, Denver, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Missouri, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Tennessee, UC Davis, Washington State and Wisconsin.
COURSE: The tournament will be held at the par-72, 6,432-yard Westbrook Village Golf Club Vistas Course.
BEAVERS' LINEUP: Oregon State will go with a lineup of seniors Olivia Benzin and Susie Cavanagh, juniors Mari Nishiura and Nicole Schroeder, and sophomore Ellie Slama. Freshman Lauren Murphy will compete as an individual.
FORMAT: Two-day, 54-hole tournament with 36 holes on Sunday and 18 holes on Monday. The top-four individuals from each five-member team with the lowest scores for each 18-hole round constitute the scoring members for that given round.
TEE TIMES: There will be a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. PT (8:30 a.m. MT) both days.
LIVE SCORING: There will be live scoring for the tournament at birdiefire.com.

FALL SEASON: The Beavers finished in second place in their first two tournaments of the fall, the East West Match Play Challenge and the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational, won the team title at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown, finished third at the Trinity Forest Invitational and used a great final round to finish seventh at the Pac-12 Preview.
LAST YEAR AT THE WESTBROOK SPRING INVITATIONAL: Oregon State shattered a three-round school record at the Westbrook Spring Invitational last year.
The Beavers concluded the two-day, 54-hole event with a 14-under 280-288-282--850 to finish in fifth place and break a record they set earlier in the season.
Oregon State broke the record this past fall when they won the team title at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown. The Beavers never finished a three-round tournament under par in their first 41 years and has now done it three times the last two seasons.

Oregon State finished in fifth place at the Westbrook Spring Invitational against a competitive 15-team field and ahead of Pac-12 rivals Washington State (10th place) and Oregon (12th place).
Oklahoma won the team title with a 25-under 839 at the par-72, 6,252-yard Westbrook Village Golf Club Vistas Course. Ohio State (24-under 840), Nebraska (21-under 843) and Wisconsin (20-under 844) were the other teams to finish ahead Oregon State.
Susie Cavanagh and Ellie Slama both paced the Beavers, finishing in a tie for 13th place with a 4-under 212. Cavanagh had rounds of 70-70-72 and Slama got better each round with scores of 72-71-69.
Olivia Benzin notched a top-25 finish for the third time in her junior campaign, finishing in a tie for 24th place with a 2-under 69-75-70--214. Nicole Schroeder also improved each round, carding a 2-over 75-72-71--218 for a tie for 42nd place.
Amanda Minni got valuable experience in her first collegiate tournament, finishing in a tie for 63rd place with a 7-over 69-77-77--223.
