No. 12 Beavers to Host No. 14 Cal, DAM Cancer Meet

ON TAP
• The Beavers take on No. 14 California Sunday afternoon in OSU's 14th annual DAM Cancer meet presented by The Corvallis Clinic. The meet is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start.
• Oregon State slipped one spot to No. 12 in this week's rankings according to RoadToNationals.com.
• OSU enters Sunday's meet with a 5-2 overall record and is 2-2 in Pac-12 competition.
• The Golden Bears are 5-4 overall and 2-3 in conference.
DAM CANCER
• The DAM Cancer meet is an ongoing effort by OSU's student-athletes and staff to raise money and awareness for the fight against breast cancer. Proceeds from the event will be donated to The Corvallis Clinic Foundation's Project H.E.R. (Help. Englightenment. Resources.).
• Pink DAM Cancer t-shirts can be purchased at the Beaver Store across the street from Gill Coliseum ... fans wearing the official DAM Cancer shirt receive a free general admission ticket to the DAM Cancer gymnastics meet as well as the Beavers' DAM Cancer women's basketball game on Sunday, Feb. 4.
TICKETS AND PROMOTIONS

• Jr. Beavs members receive a free general admission ticket to the meet. Sign up in the lobby to get your child signed up to be a Jr. Beav.
• The team will host a short dance party on the competition floor with children from the crowd following the meet.

REGIONALS IN CORVALLIS
• Oregon State will host the 2019 NCAA Regional Championships April 4-6.
• All-session tickets are available now for the three-day regional competition.
• All-session reserved passes are $42. Adult general admission is $27 and senior (62 and up)/youth (ages 3-18) general admission is $21.
• Single session tickets will go on sale at 9 a.m. each day of the regional competition for that day's session(s) only.

PAC-12 FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Madi Dagen earned Pac-12 honors for the first time in her career, when she was named as the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week on Tuesday. Dagen recorded the first event wins of her career in Tucson with the meet's top score on balance beam (9.90). She also tied for the top score with a career-tying 9.875 on the vault. She added a 9.825 to tie for fourth on the floor exercise.
QUICK STICKS
• All four of OSU's lineups are ranked among the top 25 in the nation. The floor lineup is the highest ranked for the Beavers at No. 5 (49.280, season average), beam is next at No. 12 (48.980), vault is at No. 14 (49.005) and bars ranks 23rd (48.850).
• Oregon State has 'hit' 112 out of 120 (93.3%) routines in 2019.
• OSU scored 197.450 against UCLA, tying the sixth-highest score in school history, a score that only four teams (Oklahoma, Florida, UCLA and Georgia) have topped this season.
• The Beavers registered a 49.600 on the floor exercise, missing the school-record by just .100, and besting the Bruins' top-ranked floor lineup.
• Oregon State opened the season on the road for the third straight season ... the Beavers now have a 5-0 record in those road season-openers.
• Ten of OSU's 15 regular season opponents on the 2019 schedule are ranked in this week's Top 36, including three among the top five.

LAST WEEK AT ARIZONA
• Oregon State defeated then-No. 25 Arizona in Tucson last Friday. The Beavers remain undefeated on the road in 2019.
• Madi Dagen won the first event titles of her career en route to getting named as the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week. Dagen tied her career-high with a 9.875 on vault to tie for the event title and added a 9.90 on the beam to take the event.
• Junior Sabrina Gill returned to the uneven bars lineup for the first time since the season-opener and registered a career-best 9.90 to win her first event title of the season ... her performance came under pressure as she followed a missed routine to save the Beavers' opening rotation.
• Sophomore Kaitlyn Yanish debuted a new floor exercise routine earning a 9.90.
• Senior McKenna Singley, who missed the UCLA meet due to injury returned to all three of her events in Tucson.
THE BEARS

• The Bears are 5-4 on the season and are coming off a loss at Utah, 197.150-196.225.
• Cal has wins over ranked teams in then-No. 24 Stanford, then-No. 14 BYU and then-No. 19 Arizona State in 2019.
• The Bears set a program record scoring 49.425 on the balance beam in a tri-meet against BYU and ASU.
• Cal finished the 2018 season with a ninth-place finish at NCAA Championships, their second NCAA berth in the last three years.
• The Bears are led by sophomore Kyana George, who has performed in the all-around four times in 2019 with a high score of 39.075, and freshman Milan Claus, who made her all-around debut two weeks ago with a 39.300.
• In addition, Cal boasts fifth-year senior Toni-Ann Williams, a seven-time All-American. Williams set season-bests with scores of 9.90 on vault, beam and floor two weeks ago.
GETTING BY
• Oregon State has gotten early this season despite missing several routines due to injury ... McKenna Singley missed the UCLA meet due to injury but returned to her three events last week in Arizona ... Destinee Davis, who finished 2018 in three lineups, made her 2019 debut against UCLA performing in the beam lineup ... Sabrina Gill, who was an all-arounder six times in 2018, has battled illness and injury early in the season, returned to the beam lineup against UCLA, after a two week absence, and added to the bars lineup at Arizona ... Lena Greene, who was featured in the vault lineup last season made her debut on the bars against UCLA but was injured (finger) on the routine. She has returned to practice and is progressing toward the vault lineup ... Alyssa Minyard, who performed in the bars and beam lineups most of the season last year, will miss the 2019 season due to injury.
RETURNING FOR 2019
• The Beavers return 22 out of 24 routines from the 2018 NCAA Regionals lineup. Both graduated routines by (Dani Dessaints and Shireen Khamedoost) were on the uneven bars.
• OSU had two gymnasts perform as all-arounders at various times in 2018 and both, Sabrina Gill and McKenna Singley, return.
• Four walk-ons made significant contributions to the squad in 2018 - Alyssa Minyard was a regular in the bars and beam lineups, Maela Lazaro was a consistent bright spot in the beam lineup, Lena Greene was a key component in the back half of the vault lineup and Niya Mack filled in several times on the floor exercise. As a group, the foursome hit 38 out of 41 routines.
• In addition, to 13 contributors returning, two others - Lacy Dagen and Colette Yamaoka - performed a total of 11 exhibitions for the Beavers as well.
• Kaitlyn Yanish earned Pac-12 second team honors on the floor exercise and was named an NACGC/W Regular Season All-American on floor in her first season at OSU.
• There were several notable improvements by previously unsung gymnasts in 2018 ... Lena Greene, who missed 2017 due to injury returned to make her debut at Washington with a 9.90 on the vault and became a mainstay in the back end of the vault lineup the rest of the way this year ... Halli Briscoe returned from her own injury late in the 2018 season to make her college debut on the bars where she too became a key to the lineup.

• The Beavers have three gymnasts that hail from the state of Oregon - Lena Greene (Tigard), Jaime Law (Corvallis) and Alex McClung (Salem).

LOADING UP FOR 2020
In November, three gymnasts signed the National Letters of Intent to join the Oregon State gymnastics program for the 2019-20 academic year. Kayla Bird (Chandler, Ariz.), Jenna Domingo (Honolulu, Hawai'i)Â and Jane Poniewaz (Henderson, Nev.) are scheduled to enroll at Oregon State this coming summer ... In addition, 2018 signee Jade Carey (Phoenix, Ariz.), who has deferred her enrollment this year to train for the U.S. National Team, plans to attend OSU in the future. Carey earned a pair of silver medals for Team USA at the 2017 World Championships.
