Beavers Going For Road Sweep Saturday At Utah

THE GAME: Oregon State (13-7, 5-3 Pac-12) goes for its first-ever road sweep of the Mountain schools when it takes on Utah (11-9, 5-3 Pac-12) at 2 p.m. PT (3 p.m. MT) on Saturday at the Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City.

vs. UTAH: Oregon State and Utah meet for the 31st time with the Utes holding an 18-12 advantage, including a 13-1 mark at home. The teams have split the last four meetings.

The Beavers' lone win in Salt Lake City came on Feb. 4, 2012 when they cruised to a 76-58 victory behind Jared Cunningham's game-high 20 points.

Utah won the only between the teams last season, 66-64, on Dec. 31 at Gill Coliseum in Corvallis. Tres Tinkle had a team-high 14 points, five rebounds and five assists and Stephen Thompson Jr. added 13 points. Justin Bibbins led the Utes with 18 points and David Collette finished with 12.

Stephen Thompson Jr. scored the game-winning points in Oregon State's last two wins against Utah. The first came on Feb. 4, 2016 when he made three free throws with one-tenth of a second to play for a 71-69 win. The second came on Feb. 19, 2017 when he made a layup with 10.3 seconds to play for a 68-67 win.

The Utes are 2-0 in neutral site games in the series (70-64 on March 12, 1966 in the NCAA Tournament West Regional Final in Los Angeles; 69-61 on Dec. 20, 1997 at the Rose Garden in Portland).

A WIN OVER THE UTES: If Oregon State defeats Utah it will improve to 14-7 overall and 6-3 in Pac-12 play. It would also:

Equal Oregon State's best conference record through nine games since the 1989-90 team opened 8-1 (the 1992-93 team started 6-3).
Be the first time Oregon State won three of its first five conference road games since the 1989-90 team won four of its first on the road.
Be the first time Oregon State swept a two-game conference road swing since 2008-09 (69-65 at California; 77-62 at Stanford).
