Slama, Taylor Lead Late Beaver Charge In Hawai’i

KONA, Hawai'i – Ellie Slama and Issy Taylor both fired a 3-under 70 to lead the Oregon State women's golf team to a strong finish at the Pac-12 Preview on Wednesday.
The Beavers carded the second-best score in the final round, a 5-under 287, to finish their final event of the fall season in seventh place with an 11-over 299-301-287--887 at the par-73, 6,372-yard Nanea Golf Club.
The 5-under 287 equals Oregon State's fifth-lowest single-round score in program history.
Slama, a junior from Salem, Ore., finished in ninth place with a 3-under 70-76-70--216 for the 11th top-10 finish of her career. She had two top-10 finishes in four events this fall after setting the Oregon State record with seven top-10 finishes as a sophomore.
Taylor, a freshman from Gold Coast, Australia, moved into a tie for 25th place after her great final round with a 4-over 74-79-70--223. She carded five sub-par rounds this fall, including a pair of career-best 4-under 68's.
Freshman Chayse Gomez finished in a tie for 32nd place with a 7-over 81-72-73--226 and senior Mari Nishiura was a stroke back with an 8-over 79-74-74--227 to finish in a tie for 36th place.
Junior Amanda Minni, who was competing with the team for the first time after missing the majority of last season with an injury, finished in 57th place with a 21-over 76-88-76--240.
Arizona won the 12-team event with a 19-under 857 and Rino Sasaka of Washington claimed medalist honors with a 9-under 210.
