Beavers To Face San Jose State Wednesday In Vegas

vs. SAN JOSE STATE: Oregon State and San Jose State meet for the third time with the Beavers leading the series 2-0.

The teams first played on Dec. 16, 1967 at Gill Coliseum with Oregon State winning 67-52. Gary Freeman led the Beavers with 22 points, while Vic Bartolome added 15 and Loy Peterson finished with 11. Coby Dietrick led San Jose State with 23 points and 10 rebounds.

Oregon State won the most recent meeting, 65-55, on Dec. 29, 1986 at the Far West Classic at Memorial Coliseum in Portland. Jose Ortiz had 38 points and 11 rebounds for the Beavers and Gary Payton, who was a freshman at the time, finished with six points and nine assists. Ricky Berry and Gerald Thomas scored 13 points apiece to lead the Spartans.
