News, Notes And More
- Twitter.com/BeaverFootball is still the program's main Twitter handle, but the Twitter.com/BeaverFBNews was created in the offseason.
- Follow @BeaverFBNews for news, pre-game and in-game notes and more. The handle will post in-game news and scoring information as it happens.
On The Road
- The Beavers' back-to-back wins over California and Arizona each came on the road. In fact, the team has won three straight away from home, including an Oct. 5 victory at UCLA. It's the team's first three-game road win streak since the 2013 team won four straight away from Reser Stadium.
- OSU is one of 33 nationally teams with three or more road/neutral site victories. The Beavers are one of five from the Pac-12, joining Oregon, Utah, Washington and USC.
From 0-2 To Five Wins
- Oregon State is one of five teams nationally to start the season 0-2 and head into this week's slate of games with at least five wins.
- The Beavers join Miami (six wins), Tennessee, Florida International and Liberty.Â
- Oregon State last started a season 0-2 and advanced to a bowl game in 2008.
- The Beavers lost at Stanford and Penn State to open 2008 before finishing the regular season 8-4. Oregon State played in the Sun Bowl versus Pittsburgh, winning 3-0.
For Emphasis
- We've covered Hamilcar Rashed Jr.'s season on page four of these notes but it should be emphasized - not only does he lead the nation in tackles for loss, he does so by a wide margin.
- Rashed Jr.'s lead is 4.5 over Western Kentucky's DeAngelo Malone and Texas Tech's Jordyn Brooks.Â
- Rashed is also the only player in the country to rack up more than 100 yards for loss.
- His 22.5 rank tied for 19th in a single-season in Pac-12 history.
Look At That Red Zone D
- The Beavers' red zone defense ranks tied for third in the Pac-12, having allowed opponents to convert on 32-of-40 opportunities (80 percent). The Beavers are tied with Washington State, Saturday's opponent.
- Twenty-four of those 32 scores have gone for touchdowns.
- Last season, Oregon State allowed opponents to score on 46-of-52 (88 percent) opportunities. Opponents scored a touchdown on 40 of those 46 scores.
- Oregon State is the most improved team in the Pac-12 in the category.
Milestone Makers
- Oregon State had a pair of players hit significant milestones in the 35-34 win over Arizona State.
- Artavis Pierce became the 11th player in program history to rush for 2,000 or more yards in a career. He's the first to hit that milestone since Storm Woods. Pierce has 2,045 yards and is less than 40 shy of No. 10 J.J. Young (2,084).
- Isaiah Hodgins, meanwhile, became the 13th Beaver with 1,000 or more receiving yards in a single season. He now ranks 11th with 1,021 this season.
