Carey Set to Represent the USA at World Championships

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State signee Jade Carey's journey toward the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics continues this weekend at the 2019 World Championships in Stuttgart, Germany.
Carey, a two-time silver medalist from the 2017 World Championships, joins a U.S. women's squad that includes five-time world all-around champion Simone Biles as well as Sunisa Lee, Grace McCallum and Kara Eaker.
The women's portion of the World Championships begins Friday with Team USA taking the floor at 12 p.m. PT on Saturday. Women's Team Finals are set for Tuesday, Oct. 8.
The top 24 all-arounders qualify to the Women's Individual All-Around Final on Thursday, Oct. 10 and Apparatus Finals will be held Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 12-13.
Carey earned a pair of silver medals at the U.S. Championships on the vault and floor exercise in August. In addition, she finished seventh in the all-around at the same meet.
The Phoenix, Ariz. Native signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Oregon State gymnastics program in November of 2017. Carey deferred her enrollment in 2018-19 while training and competing on the international elite level as she has chased her Olympic dreams. She is expected to join the Beavers following the Olympics in time for the 2021 season.
