
Gloire Lifts Beavers to Glory in 1-0 Overtime Win

SAN DIEGO, Calif.  – Sophomore Gloire Amanda found the net in the 98th minute to lift the Oregon State men's soccer team to a 1-0 road victory over San Diego State Thursday evening in San Diego, Calif.

Amanda's first goal of the season came at a big moment, as he took the ball at the top of the 18 and popped it over the rushing goalkeeper and into the net. With the win, the Beavers move to 6-5-1 on the season, and 3-2-1 in Pac-12 play.

OSU led the shot count 14-8 in the match, led by Sofiane Djeffal with four shots.

Oregon State recorded the first shot of the match less than three minutes in, as Arnaud Deniel had his header blocked. Joel Walker followed that up by forcing a save in the 17th minute.

Steffen Yeates, Sofiane Djeffal and Walker all took shots in quick succession in the 27th minute, but all three efforts were blocked as the Beavers controlled the scoring chances early on. Oregon State held a 6-1 advantage on shots in the first 45 minutes, but the teams headed to the break scoreless.

Djeffal recorded the Beavers' first shot of the second half, but the effort sailed over the bar. Amanda tallied back-to-back efforts in the 65th, but could not find the net.

Alex Cover took aim in the closing seconds of regulation, but his effort was wide, and the teams headed to extra time scoreless.

Walker forced a save in the 93rd, as the Beavers looked to end the match in the first overtime period. Christian Ortiz followed that up with a shot that was blocked moments later.
