Beavers Head to the Mountains for Pair of Duals

CORVALLIS – The Oregon State wrestling team is back on the road this week for a pair on nonconference duals against Northern Colorado and No. 12 Wyoming. The Beavers first wrestle UNC on Friday evening, at 6 p.m. before battling the Cowboys on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Beavers in the Ranks
The Beavers are ranked by multiple publications in the team tournament rankings. Both InterMat and TheOpenMat have Oregon State ranked No. 17; TrackWrestling dropped OSU to No. 24 this week.

Senior 125-pounder Ronnie Bresser remains one of the best wrestlers in the country, being ranked unanimously as the No. 3 wrestler at his weight class. Sophomore Hunter Willits finds the rankings in two publications coming in as highly as No. 18 according to TheOpenMat. Amar Dhesi finds himself down a few spots after an opening night loss. Dhesi is in the top 10 in all publications and ranks as highly as No. 4 according to TheOpenMat.

Last Time Out
The Last time the Beavers hit the mats was against No. 6 Michigan for the fourth annual Joe Wells Classic on Jan. 3. The Beavers jumped out to an early lead, but fell 33-8. Bresser and H. Willits each claimed victories over a tough Wolverines unit.

Northern Colorado
Northern Colorado holds a 2-4 overall record with a 0-3 record in the Big 12. In their last dual, the Bears dropped a 47-0 decision to No. 3 Oklahoma State at home. UNC boats two nationally ranked wrestlers in Rico Montoya (125) and Jacob Seely (197).

Wyoming
No. 12 Wyoming has put together another tough team after a 17th place finish at NCAAs last spring. The Cowboys are 9-3 so far this year, and currently ride a five-match win streak. Their last time out saw a 25-14 victory over American University. Wyoming also has a pair of ranked wrestlers in Montorie Bridges (133) and Branson Ashworth (165).
