Beavers Hit the Road for Pair in California

CORVALLIS – The Oregon State wrestling team hits the road this week for a pair of duals at Fresno State and Cal Poly. The Beavers first face the Bulldogs on Thursday, Jan. 31 at 7 p.m., before taking on the Mustangs on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 1 p.m.

Oregon State finds itself one spot higher in the team rankings this week at No. 17 in the FloWrestling Tournament Rankings. The Beavers are ranked No. 19 by InterMat and No. 21 by TrackWrestling.

Redshirt senior Ronnie Bresser continues to be the highest ranked Beaver in the lineup coming in as a unanimous No. 3. The Klamath Falls, Ore. native is 16-1 on the season with a perfect record in dual meets. Heavyweight Amar Dhesi (3-1) ranks as highly as No. 4 by TheOpenMat and FloWrestling.

Sophomore 157-pounder Hunter Willits is ranked by one publication, TheOpenMat, and currently ranks No. 20.

Last Time Out
Oregon State faced an instate opponent last time out, defeating the Cougars of Clackamas C.C. by a score of 44-3. The Beavers had bonus point wins in seven out of their nine matches won.

Fresno State
The Bulldogs enter Thursday's dual with a 6-6 overall record and a 3-3 record in conference (Big 12). In their last time out, Fresno State picked up a 38-3 decision over South Dakota State. Fresno State boasts four ranked wrestlers (highest ranking); No. 12 Khristian Olivas (149), No. 25 Jackson Hemauer (184), No. 13 Josh Hokit (197), No. 20 AJ Nevills (285).

Oregon State holds a 30-14-0 series lead over Fresno State. The two schools met last season with the Beavers coming out on top, 33-3.
Cal Poly
The Mustangs enter the week riding a 0-4 overall record, with a 0-1 mark in Pac-12 play. Their last dual resulted in a 28-13 loss to Northern Colorado on Jan. 11.
