Why did you choose Oregon State/What are you looking forward to most about running at Oregon State?
I am looking forward to representing my home state and being a part of this team. The first time I talked to Louie, his enthusiasm and passion for this team was obvious. Oregon State has great academic programs, an amazing community, and is a very special place to be a student-athlete. Oregon State cross country is growing and has a lot of potential and it is exciting to be a part of that.
What do you enjoy most about running?
What I enjoy most about running is the joy it adds to my life. Running has taught me courage and dedication. It's brought me the best people and to so many places.
How do you like to spend your time away from running?
When I am not running I like to hike, explore new places, and hang out with friends.
What was your favorite experience from this summer?
My favorite experience from this summer was going to Honduras on a medical mission trip.
Who is your role model?
Two of my role models are Lopez Lomong and Gabriele Grunewald. Both of whom have faced extreme adversity and have used running to overcome. Lomong was a Lost Boy of Sudan and a refugee. He overcame extreme challenges to become an Olympian and has used his success to help and inspire others. Grunewald is a professional runner who has been diagnosed with cancer four times but continues to run and fight.
What are you planning to study at Oregon State?
I am planning on majoring in Public Health.
What other sports do you play, or grew up playing?
I have been running since elementary school, but I also swam in high school.
What song/band is most likely to be playing on your phone?
The song that is most likely to be playing on my phone is "The Office Theme Song" (Skibo Beatz trap remix).
The Beavers continue the 2018 season tomorrow at the 2018 Sundodger Cross Country Invitational in Seattle on Sept. 8. The women's 6,000-meter race begins at 11 a.m.
