Welcome to the first installment of our series introducing the newcomers to the 2018 cross country team, beginning with Alyssa Foote
. She is a junior transfer from Seattle Pacific hailing from Beaverton, Ore.
Why did you choose Oregon State/What are you looking forward to most about running at Oregon State?
I chose Oregon State because I wanted to be closer to home and OSU has the academic program I'm interested in pursuing. I'm just excited to improve my running and compete with some of the top runners in the NCAA.
What do you enjoy most about running?
I enjoy setting big goals and accomplishing them, as well as the running community.
How do you like to spend your time away from running?
I like to spend my free time reading mostly nonfiction books, watching crime shows, going for walks and taking pictures.
What was your favorite experience from this summer?
My favorite thing I did this summer was relaxing and spending the summer with my family at Mason Lake.
Who is your role model?
My role models are my brother, Alex, and my mother, Denise.
Do you have any pre-race superstitions?
My pre-race superstition is that I like to do a little dance while doing my warm up right before the start of the race.
What are you planning to study at Oregon State?
I am planning on majoring in Nutrition with an emphasis in Dietetics.
What other sports do you play, or grew up playing?
I grew up playing soccer until the seventh grade.
What song/band is most likely to be playing on your phone?
The Lumineers and George Ezra are some of my favorite artists. The song of the summer for me was "Shotgun" by George Ezra.
The Beavers are geared up for their first race of the season at the 1st Annual Viking Rust Buster at Portland State on Saturday, Sept. 1. The race begins at 10 a.m., and you can follow along with the action via the live results
