Oregon State Falls to No. 18 Kansas
August 24, 2018 | Women's Soccer
Kansas takes 3-0 win.
Lincoln, Neb. – The Oregon State women's soccer team put up a strong second half battle but can't fight their way back as they fall to No. 18 Kansas, 3-0.
Â
Kansas controlled the ball for most of the first half as they got off to an early 1-0 lead. The Beavers tried to capitalize on a few occasions that were presented to them, including redshirt-sophomore Diana Santiago taking a free kick about 10-yards outside the Kansas penalty box. Unfortunately nothing could transpire for Oregon State as Kansas scored two more times in the first half to take the lead heading into halftime, 3-0.
Â
Oregon State came out ready to battle back in the second half as senior Emery Wallerich at the 46th minute and redshirt-junior Toni Malone at the 59th minute mark both took shots that went just over the top of the goal. The Oregon State defensive unit held strong throughout the second half to keep the Jayhawks from extending their lead any further.
Â
Freshman goalkeeper Bridgette Skiba recorded three saves on the match.
Â
Oregon State will face Nebraska on Sunday at 11 a.m. PST to finish the weekend.
