Beavers Honored By Perfect Game, ABCA

The Beavers have now had seven All-American honors this year
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State outfielder Trevor Larnach, catcher Adley Rutschman and infielder Nick Madrigal were all honored by both Perfect Game and the American Baseball Coaches Association on Wednesday.

Larnach was named a first-team All-American by Perfect Game, Rutschman was named second team and Madrigal third team. All three was named First-Team All-West Region by the ABCA.

Additionally, Bryce Fehmel was named an honorable mention All-American selection by Perfect Game, and Cadyn Grenier was selected as a second-team honoree by the ABCA. Fehmel's All-American honor gives the Beavers a school-record seven this year, as Grenier, Luke Heimlich and Jake Mulholland have also been recognized.

Larnach, who was also named a first-team All-Pac-12 selection – and honorable mention All-Academic – is batting .336 this season with 14 doubles and 18 home runs. He has driven in 68 runs, which is second in the Pac-12 to Rutschman's 70. It also ranks third in OSU's single-season history.

Rutschman is also a Pac-12 First-Teamer and All-Academic honorable mention selection. The sophomore is batting .386 entering Saturday's game with North Carolina, and his 70 RBI have come on the strength of 19 doubles, three triples and seven home runs.

Madrigal, who has played in 34 games for the Beavers, is batting .397 with seven doubles, four triples, three home runs and 32 RBI while striking out just five times in 141 official at bats. He's also a First-Team Pac-12 selection and All-Academic honorable mention honoree while also being named to the conference's All-Defensive Team.

Fehmel is 10-1 on the year, posting a 2.87 ERA in 103 1/3 innings. The junior right-hander has held opponents to a .228 batting average, striking out 60 to just 24 walks in 17 starts. He also a first-team All-Pac-12 selection and All-Academic honoree.

Grenier, who was named the Pac-12's Defensive Player of the Year, has committed just six errors in 60 games this year. Offensively, he's batting .322 with 16 doubles, two triples, five home runs and 44 RBI. He was also named First-Team All-Pac-12 and First-Team All-Academic.

Oregon State opens the 2018 College World Series Saturday versus North Carolina at 12 p.m. PT (2 p.m. in Omaha). The game will air live on ESPN.
