Three Women’s Golfers Earn All-Academic Honors

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Olivia Benzin, Susie Cavanagh and Nicole Schroeder all received Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention recognition, Commissioner Larry Scott announced Monday.
Benzin, a junior from Tacoma, Wash., earned Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention honors for her 3.46 cumulative GPA in management. She was selected to the Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team last year. Benzin played in all 11 tournaments this past season and had a scoring average of 74.52. She set the Oregon State single-round record with a 6-under at the Ron Moore Invitational.
Cavanagh, a senior from Warwick, R.I., earned Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention honors in her first eligible year for her 3.25 cumulative GPA in sociology. She played in all 11 tournaments this past season and had a scoring average of 74.59. Her best finish was a tie for 13th place at the Westbrook Spring Invitational and Meadow Club Intercollegiate.
Schroeder, a sophomore from Rocklin, Calif., earned Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention honors in his first eligible year for her 3.45 cumulative GPA in pre-business. She played in 11 tournaments this past season and had a scoring average of 73.93. Schroeder became the fourth Oregon State golfer to advance to the NCAA Championships after shooting a career-best 10-under 206 to win the individual title at NCAA Regionals in Madison, Wis.
An Oregon State women's golfer has now earned conference all-academic honors every year since 2000 and a total of 44 times since the recognition began in 1992.
In order to be eligible for the Pac-12 All-Academic teams, a student-athlete must have a grade point average of 3.00 or better and must be a starter or significant contributor.
