May 17, 2018 | Softball
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Oregon State softball's Hope Brandner added a third postseason award to her accolades on Thursday, as the freshman was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Pacific Region First-Team announced by the head office in Thursday.
Last week, Brandner was named to the Pac-12 All-Conference Third-Team and All-Freshman team. The Vacaville, Calif. native was one of 667 student-athletes to receive 2018 NFCA Division I All-Region accolades. Brandner is the seventh player to receive All-Region honors under head coach Laura Berg; Alysha Everett (2017), Shelby Weeks (2016), Dani Gilmore (2014), Natalie Hampton and Lea Cavestany (2013).
Brandner leads the team with 34 RBI and a .533 slugging percentage in her inaugural season in Corvallis. She batted .300 with a team-high 11 home runs this season and earned her first Pac-12 Freshman of the Week honor on March 19 after hitting five RBI against No. 16 California. Brandner helped the Beavers topple Oregon for the first time since 2012 with a walk-off RBI on March 30.
The Beavers open the NCAA Tournament at the Tuscaloosa Regional on Friday against Wisconsin. The first pitch is set for 4:00 p.m. PT on ESPN3.
