
Heimlich Named A Pitcher of the Year Semifinalist

Heimlich leads the nation with 12 wins this season
LUBBOCK, Texas – Oregon State senior Luke Heimlich has been named a semifinalists for the College Baseball Hall of Fame's Pitcher of the Year award, it was announced on Thursday.
Heimlich, the reigning National Pitcher of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and the Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week, leads the country with 12 wins. He's also tied for seventh – and leads the Pac-12 – with 115 strikeouts while sporting a 2.94 earned run average.
The lefty has won five consecutive games, and has 58 strikeouts to 22 hits, 11 runs and five walks allowed in his last 37 innings.
Heimlich, a Puyallup, Wash., native, has been named the Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week seven times during his career, which is one shy of Andrew Checketts' program-record eight. Heimlich is the school's career leader with 341 strikeouts, is second with 32 wins and fourth with 346 innings pitched.
