Beavers In Columbus For Two-Day Tourney

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State women's golf team looks to continue a strong spring season when it competes at the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational on Saturday and Sunday in Columbus, Ohio.

The Beavers opened the spring with a fifth-place showing at the Westbrook Spring Invitational and followed that with a third-place effort at the Meadow Club Women's Intercollegiate, a fourth-place mark at the Entrada Classic and a fifth-place finish at the Anuenue Spring Break Classic.

FIELD (14): Oregon State, Illinois, Indiana, Indianapolis, Kent State, Maryland, Michigan State, Minnesota, Ohio State, Penn State, Rutgers, Seton Hall, Toledo and Washington.

COURSE: The tournament will be held at the par-72, 6,319 Ohio State University Golf Club.

BEAVERS' LINEUP: Oregon State will go with a lineup of senior Susie Cavanagh, junior Olivia Benzin, sophomores Mari Nishiura and Nicole Schroeder, and freshmen Amanda Minni and Ellie Slama.

FORMAT: Two-day, 54-hole tournament with 36 holes on Saturday and 18 holes on Sunday. The top-four individuals from each six-member team with the lowest scores for each 18-hole round constitute the scoring members for that given round.

TEE TIMES: There will be a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. ET (5:30 a.m. PT) both days.

LIVE SCORING: There will be live scoring for the tournament at golfstat.com.

LAST TIME OUT: For the fourth time in as many spring tournaments the Beavers posted a top-five finish.

The Beavers finished in fifth place at the Anuenue Spring Break Classic two weeks ago after concluding the three-day, 54-hole tournament with a 32-over 301-297-298--896 at the par-72, 6,022-yard Kapalua Bay Course.

Nicole Schroeder finished in a tie for 10th place with a 6-over 76-74-72--222 to record a top-10 finish for the third time in her sophomore campaign. She finished in a tie for eighth place at the Ron Moore Invitational this past fall and a career-best third at the Entrada Classic two weeks ago.

Susie Cavanagh and Ellie Slama both finished in a tie for 18th place with an 8-over 224. Cavanagh posted scores of 74-74-76 and Slama finished the tourney with rounds of 76-74-74.

Olivia Benzin finished in a tie for 32nd place with a 10-over 75-75-76--226 and Mari Nishiura bounced back after a tough opening round to finish in a tie for 56th place with a 22-over 86-76-76--238.

Amanda Minni competed as an individual and finished in a career-best tie for 26h place with a 9-over 78-74-73--225.
Â
Louisville defeated Hawai'i in a playoff to win the team title and Kaci Masuda of Hawai'i was the individual medalist.
