Beavers In The Hunt At Meadow Club
March 05, 2018 | Women's Golf
FAIRFAX, Calif. – The Oregon State women's golf team continued its hot play at the Meadow Club Women's Intercollegiate on Monday.
Â
The Beavers shot a 6-over 294 at the par-72, 6,252-yard Meadow Club to put them in fourth place and just three strokes out of second place.
Â
No. 15 Washington leads the 16-team field with a 5-under 283, while No. 19 Colorado and San Francisco are tied for second with a 3-over 291.
Â
A frost delay moved the start to 11 a.m. so the tournament will be 36 holes, instead of the planned 54, with 18 on Monday and 18 on Tuesday.
Â
The final round begins at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday with a shotgun start and live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
Â
Senior Susie Cavanagh led Oregon State with a 2-under 70, which included birdies on the par-4 sixth, par-5 ninth and par-3 11th holes. She's tied for fourth place in the tournament and will look to better her career-best tie for eighth place that was set at last year's Rose City Collegiate.
Â
Junior Olivia Benzin had three birdies and four bogeys to card a 1-over 73 and freshman Ellie Slama finished the day with a 3-over 75.
Â
Sophomore Nicole Schroeder and freshman Amanda Minni each posted a 4-over 76.
Â
The Beavers shattered the 54-hole program record with a 14-under 850 at the Westbrook Spring Invitational last week to finish fifth in a competitive 15-team field.
