Beavers Look To Keep It Rolling

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Fresh off its record-setting performance, the Oregon State women's golf team will tee it up Monday and Tuesday at the Meadow Club Women's Collegiate in Fairfax, Calif.

FIELD (16): Oregon State, Boston College, BYU, California, Cal Poly, Colorado, Gonzaga, Idaho, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, San Francisco, San Jose State, UC Davis Washington and Washington State.

COURSE: The tournament will be held at the par-72, 6,252-yard Meadow Club.

BEAVERS' LINEUP: Oregon State will go with a lineup of senior Susie Cavanagh, junior Olivia Benzin, sophomore Nicole Schroeder and freshmen Amanda Minni and Ellie Slama.

FORMAT: Two-day, 54-hole tournament with 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday. The top-four individuals from each five-member team with the lowest scores for each 18-hole round constitute the scoring members for that given round.

TEE TIMES: There will be shotgun starts at 8:15 a.m. on Monday and 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

LIVE SCORING: There will be live scoring for the tournament at golfstat.com.

LAST TIME OUT: Oregon State shattered a three-round school record at the Westbrook Spring Invitational on this past week.

The Beavers concluded the two-day, 54-hole event with a 14-under 280-288-282--850 to finish in fifth place and break a record they set earlier this season.

The previous mark was a 6-under 858 at the Ron Moore Invitational in Highlands Ranch, Colo., this past October. Oregon State had never finished a three-round tournament under par and has now done it twice this season.

Oregon State finished in fifth place against a competitive 15-team field and ahead of Pac-12 rivals Washington State (10th place) and Oregon (12th place).

Oklahoma won the team title with a 25-under 839 at the par-72, 6,252-yard Westbrook Village Golf Club Vistas Course. Ohio State (24-under 840), Nebraska (21-under 843) and Wisconsin (20-under 844) were the other teams to finish ahead Oregon State.

Susie Cavanagh and Ellie Slama both paced the Beavers, finishing in a tie for 13th place with a 4-under 212. Cavanagh had rounds of 70-70-72 and Slama got better each round with scores of 72-71-69.

The 4-under 212 is a career best for Cavanagh, bettering the 1-under 215 she shot last spring at the NCAA Regionals. Slama has finished under par in seven of her last 10 rounds.

Olivia Benzin notched a top-25 finish for the third time in her junior campaign, finishing in a tie for 24th place with a 2-under 69-75-70--214. It's the fourth time she's finished a three-round event in red figures.

Nicole Schroeder also improved each round, carding a 2-over 75-72-71--218 for a tie for 42nd place. Freshman Amanda Minni got valuable experience in her first collegiate tournament, finishing in a tie for 63rd place with a 7-over 69-77-77--223.
